After implementing several best practices and organizational strategies we've developed based on our experience with hundreds of clients, we expect Abilene Regional to experience a significant decrease in agency workforce costs, increased productivity, and increased supply of qualified healthcare workers."
Abilene Regional Medical Center was built in 1968 as West Texas Medical Center by a group of physicians and investors. In 1984, the hospital moved to its new home on a 33-acre campus in South Abilene, now the city's high growth area. In 1992 the Abilene Heart & Vascular Institute opened, followed by the addition of a pediatric cardiology clinic in 1996. Abilene Regional's 2004 joint venture with Sears Methodist Retirement Systems resulted in the opening of Senior Healthcare Center, which offers the senior citizen population specialized care and is staffed by a physician with a board certification in geriatrics. More than 200 physicians, representing 44 areas of medical specialization, and 750 employees provide care at our 231-bed hospital.
