Nursefinders Reminds Family Caregivers They Are Not Alone

“The aspects of 24/7 home care can easily become overwhelming for family members. They often do not realize the extent of care and supervision required when volunteering to look after another family member, especially someone who may require constant supervision and care,” said Pamela Wendt, RN, Chief Nursing Officer of Nursefinders.

“We see direct home care staffing as an area where we can provide a much needed service to family caregivers,” said Wendt. “By arranging for some time off for themselves, many family caregivers can continue in their role without endangering their own health or emotional well-being.”

Studies published by the National Family Caregivers Association show that often-times those who volunteer for family caregiver roles are too busy as caregivers to look into outside resources that are available. For some, the notion of embarking on a process to identify help may be viewed as overwhelming. The perceived difficulty of trying to bring a new caregiver up to speed to care for their family member may prevent a family from asking for help.
